Default Small Hay Wagon

I purchased the running gear from NorthernTool.com and completed the sub-frame & deck last weekend. Hope to have the sides on soon. Anyone have a source for stake pockets that fit a standard 2"x4"? It will be used mostly for moving firewood from truck to splitter to the seasoning rack to the ready-to-burn rack.

Thanks,

Steve

Wagon looks great! What gear exactly did you get from Northern as the base for it? I want to make one, too!!! Be sure to post pictures of your final wagon so we can all admire it.

Very nice little set-up for behind the Gator and looks very well built. 2x4 decking is substantial and should be excellent for hauling firewood. A hay wagon only needs rough 1" or 5/4" finished stock.

I do hope you are going to stain and seal the wood to keep it looking nice for a long time to come. Stain is nice because it never peels or chips and never has to be scraped before apply a fresh coat. Please post more pictures when completed!

I had Home Depot custom mixed a solid green Behr stain that weathers to look like antique JD Green. Maybe they could custom mix modern JD green. When I get my JD hay wagon stained I will post pictures.

Now I have to ask... In the first two pictures you have a straight front. In the third you have a "V" over the hitch. Why did you modify? Just curious...

Nice looking and well built trailer you have there. I also made a small hay rack several years ago and it looks like the same running gear that I bought from Northern Tool. I had to put tubes in the tires because they would not hold air for more than a week.

The small wagon looks great. I'd give it a real good paint or stain job to keep the wood from rotting.
