How's the air filter, I replace mine with every other oil change on my 94 F-350 diesel. I may go to a K&N and just clean it at every oil change instead.

Also, how is the air pressure in the tires. I noticed a big difference when I started checking that more often.

Make sure your tire pressure is up, the alignment is good and run a good fuel additive. Also, as pointed out, change your air filter.

This is assuming your truck is the stock height and has stock sized tires. If not, its a whole new ball of wax.

I replied to another post about this. I wished I had kept my 05 2500HD w/ Dmax since I was getting 20 MPG. Instead I traded it in on an 07 which has the DPF (diesel particulate filter) and can't get any more than 15.5 MPG. Two friends of mine also had 05's and got 19-20 with theirs.

On the other hand a friend has the identical 07 to mine and he is getting 19-19.5 MPG with his. I had the dealer check everything on mine to see if something wasn't programmed right but they could find nothing out of spec. Other guys here with 07's are also getting 19 or better so mine must be the oddball that doesn't. I drive it the same as I did the 05 so that's not the cause. My 07 is a lease so it'll go back at the end. I'm not sure if I'll go diesel again unless I can see better mileage.

I have an 08 GMC 2500HD Dmax and get 17-18 highway and 14-15 city, 10-11 pulling my 12K 5th wheel.

Here's a web site you should take a look at (http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/). There's been alot of electronic ink about Dmax MPG at this site.

you guys getting 15-17 mpg with your 3/4 tons make me sick i get 16 city(rarely ever drive highway, city is 90% of my driving) in my 2004 1/2 ton silverado Z71. granted i have 285 tires, but i had the computer reflashed for them. just cant seem to do any better then an average of 16. now i've done worse, about 15 a couple times. if i knew i could get a diesel 4x4 extended cab and KNOW it would get 17mpg i'd be doing alright. i could live with that.

I have an 03 2500 Dmax with the said to be terrible super duper scary injector popping don`t ever by one LB07. It just turned 88k, has been chipped since 7k, well maintained by me, and has never once left me stranded and is still on its original set of injectors. On the highway, I have seen an all time best of 23mpg, but usaualy around 21mpg with 265 Goodyear silent armors. A good freind of mine has a 2005 LLY Dmax, and he was also unhappy with the mileage, as it was around 15mpg at best on the highway unloaded with 285`s. We recently put a Kennedy Diesel boost stick on it, and also added a banks programmer. He is now is seeing mileage nearly identicle to my LBO7, both towing and empty. Try this site for Dmax info, I have been a member for a couple of years, and the info here cannot be beat. TheDieselPage.com Forums - Powered by vBulletin And here is the link to John Kennedy`s site, he is THEY Duramax guru, and sells the boost stick as well as many other proven Duramax mods http://www.kennedydiesel.com/

I just went 180 miles from Rockford, MI to Battle Creek, MI and back and used 8.8 gallons. 20.4 mpg. About 80% of the trip was highway. I find the air filter makes a huge difference not only in the mpg, but also in performance. I also go easy on it out of the stop lights and keep speeds at about 75 on the highway. My 02 duramax has 145,000mi and has been a phenomenal truck, But parts of the body are starting to rust. The amount of salt the road commission puts down here is ungodly.
