2000-2002 Chevy trucks and daytime running lights

I've observed something and that is that at least 1 out of every 4 2000-2002 Chevy truck I see has one of its little daytime running lights burnt out. For the owners of this era of truck (the best looking ones, in my opinion), are y'all replacing these bulbs every two weeks or something?

More likely the opposite is true, nobody is bothering to replace them when they burn out.

I've got a '99. The first couple of years I went through 1 about every 6 - 8 months. I then found a different type of bulb that was supposedly "double life" or something to that affect, but it was the same wattage. I don't think I've replaced a DRL since '02 or '03. I think a lot of it has to do with heat build up. I think those bulbs get hot running for extended periods of times. Now that I don't drive the truck to work an hour each way every day, I think that is why mine are now lasting.

I have changed mine once in about 4 years. About a month apart from each other, but it is not driven daily.

My 99 they lasted a year, sometimes 2. We have 4 newer pickups now they do seem to last longer.

I replaced three in one year. I don't worry about them anymore.

Mine go out on occasion and they're easy enough to replace so I do. Besides if one is burnt out it's just an excuss for the local's to pull you over. Usually will happen around closing time. I remember coming home from work late and it was just after closing, sure enough got pulled over for a burnt out light. Around here that's one way for them to catch individuals who have embibed to much.

I have an 04 with the driver side out right now. Been like that for nearly two years. Just not very high on the priority list to replace that bulb. In fact I'd rather not have them on anyway and usually flip the switch off.

That's cool that there's a switch. My headlights are constantly on on my 99 Chevy, and the only way to turn them off is to engage the parking brake, at least to the point where the electric switch is closed.

That's exactly how mine was. It's been a while and I can't recall if the truck was a '99 or '00. When I first went to test drive it I saw the emergency brake light on and asked the guy if he'd driven very long with the brakes on (wondering if there was any pad left). That's when he explained to me that he hated the lights and that was the only way he knew to turn them off. He said he'd rather look at the emergency brake light than drive with the daytime running lights on. Me? I took the bulbs out. I was going to just unplug them, but I couldn't see how to do so without the plug hanging down and getting road grit in it.
