After that, Ford did what I admire, they said no to it and went back to trying to make their company profitable. Borrowing money from whoever they can get it is all part of business. The same is true with accepting grants and building the cars that the government requires of them. It's all a mess that's been created by those in Washington, but made worse by greed, poor decisions and lousy products. Of the big 3, Ford is the only one that I will consider buying in the future. I'm currently looking for a work van and maybe a duelly one ton flat bed.
Eddie | Very well said Eddie. What PO's me about the government getting involved is us the tax payers had no say. This administration is just spending like crazy and we will all pay dearly in the future.
If GM or Chrysler was allowed to fold the world would not come to a end. We would forget all about it in a year and it would be on to the next problem. The lines that were decent would be bought out and taken over by other companies like Saturn and Hummer have been. It would take people to build them and that is where the workers would come in. Even if they were allowed to just fall off the face of the earth there would still be a need for autos and the other manufactures would have to increase production thus increasing jobs. There was a hidden agenda saving GM and Chrysler. Its plain as mud to me but politics are a no no here so I will let it be.

| Just my .02 cents:
What difference does it make if the gov't gives GM billions to stay afloat or gives Ford billions so Ford can build a government subsidized "green" car nobody will buy except die hard tree huggers?
It's still gov't money taken from taxpayers that, as you said, have no say where the money goes.
I'd rather see the money go toward keeping GM open for business, giving Americans a choice of cars to buy and saving American jobs than giving to Ford to build a 2 cylinder hybrid that looks like a motorcycle with a bubble around it.

| Re: 2009 Model Year Pickup Truck Sales YTD I think we're straying off topic. I'm guilty, too. The topic is sales numbers.

When combined, GM has 200,016 units sold to Ford's 179,632. That's about 21,000 units ahead of Ford.
Gimmie a break. GM sells way more trucks than Ford. Even in bankrupcty, more people buy GM trucks than Ford. GM may be unpopular and not well supported on this website, but the sales #'s tell me that Americans still love GM trucks, even in bankruptcy.
The facts are right there posted by the OP! | True for the YTD sales but a sharp reversal for june, the very 1st month after the bailout... Ford is now eating Gvnmt Motors lunch it seems.
Go Ford |

Blowing everyone away? They are down 30+% just like everyone else. And GMC is not added into the Chev. stats.
Not trying to slam anyone or take up for any company. Just putting my perspective in the mix. |
