Actually, if you closely at the picture, you will see another chain and binder between the rear tires of the tractor and the brush hog.

I guess in keeping this thread going hehehehe I'll ad another post. I just realized that is a 5000 series tractor. Mine is a 5400 but that 5100 is probably similar in weight. I believe they are 5500lbs empty. So adding the hog that dude is really pushing his luck with that trailer. My old 7K was built well and I OL'd it several times to about 10K but that trailer looks like 7K would be too much. Granted I have a loader and loaded tires but my 14K doesn't want much more than the 5400 that weighs 9500lbs on it.

Just thought I'd share what is, in my opinion, the best possible tie/tow job in the galaxy. No, check that...in the UNIVERSE. MINE.

G70 chains looped through 10k hoops bound to the trailer cross-members by Grade 8 bolts. Chained tight front and back by the tractor frame. Implements similarly chained down.

Some will nix me for doing the "looping chain" maneuver, using only two 16' long chains, one front and one back. The alternative being 4 independent chains, one on each corner. Considering one single chain could clean-jerk 1.5 of my tractors straight in the air (at rated working capacity), I figure I'm pretty good.

I also earn a demerit for the loose spare tire. I only carry it with me when I leave town with my trailer and haven't gotten around to a proper mount. It just sits between my box-blade and my FEL bucket and doesn't wander around much.

As you can see, even with this tiny tractor, the 20' long trailer (18' deck) gets used up in a hurry.

The rig tows like a dream behind the Expedition...70 MPH and 12 MPG. I have a very minor issue in that the trailer 'wanders' back and forth very slowly as I tow. Not the short frequency sway that is so obviously dangerous...just something that gives you what my wife calls 'sea sickness'. I have a friction sway bar for my travel trailer...I just need to add the little ball to this trailer and attach. Should straighten that right out.

Thank you for letting me share how awesome I am. You're welcome.

And by the way, as a German, and Engineer, and a Lutheran, painfully dry sarchasm is but one of the many services I offer for free. Like it or not.
Very nice ! I am in a same predicament as you. I also have a sway bar from my camper and I would LOVE to use it on my 7k trailer as well. I just need that ONE extra ball too. I checked around online and in local stores and all they sell is the whole kit, not the little ball on trailer side. I am tempted to get the harbor freight sway bar kit and use the ball from that and throw the HF swaybar in corner in garage for emergency spare in case I bend mine.

Truth of the matter likely was the cop was completely ignorant about trailers but they had trained him about traffic tickets on day 1.

Hey guys just to settle this little depute of if the F-150 is being over loaded and sagging, or if the hitch should be turned sideways or not. I'll just come on down and tow that unit with my F-350 SRW PSD 4X4. As a matter of fact, seeing that truck and trailer was in the southern states, shoot just add the other tractor and trailer behind it. The F350 won't mind, it will pull them both safely to there final destination , heh, heh, heh.
