8N Ford Tractor Trailer

   / 8N Ford Tractor Trailer #11
I use to tow an old Harry Ferguson about the same as an 8N.18' trailer with single axle brakes With a 1/2 ton dodge with a 360.My dodge struggled going up steep grades. It might be a little tough on that 6 cyl

I still tow quite a bit with my dodge/360 1/2 ton 16' trailer and fords.. no pep on take off... but once you get there it's ok.

I have a 52 8N that I haul a few times a week with a 1/2 ton Chevy and a 16' 7000# trailer. It handles it great if it's just the tractor, but a bush hog with the tractor makes for a heavy load. I think if you just take your time you'll do ok.

I have a similar trailer/7500#gross weight. My 1/2 ton ford transmission eventually failed after some rigorous trailer time. Since you now have an opportunity to go with a bigger truck. I would right to a 3/4 ton pick up or better. If you expect to trailer on a regular basis, you will be happier and your truck and your nerves will last longer.
