My 06 F250 6.0 diesel did something similar. It stopped once truck warmed up.

I can actually get mine to do it "on command".... I always run in tow/haul due to the EB on the F550 being non-existent... but anyway, if you are running along in tow/haul and slow down for say a red light. as you are slowing and getting near the red-light you can watch it backshifting... if its backshifted into 2nd and the light turns green, if you get back into the throttle anywhere beyond about 1/2 throttle, it will hang in 2nd again...
If you just hold it there, it WILL eventually shift, but not before all the traffic behind you has honked, cussed, and started passing you!!..
I think this issue may be something similar to what the 48RE Dodge trans. does sometimes. I don't think its anything serious, but something that does need to be addressed and corrected.
I plan on talking with the dealer next time in for a service...
We are having a SIGNIFICANTLY more serious issue right now... one of the other new 2011 F550's has apparently just lost an engine within the last week. Preliminary report from the repairing dealer is that cylinders #2 and #8 have no compression.. Guy driving said it started vibrating and shuttering while travelling down a local interstate.. I haven't heard anything this week so far, we are hoping they are wrong... We just purchased six of these trucks for our store!!!! Hoping to find out more tomorrow..

Wonderful! at least you have 5 others for spares. Imagine the single truck contractor (like me), would be out of business and still have a truck mortgage to pay.

This one storey would be all it would take to steer clear of ford if I were in the market for a new work truck. Same as back in 06 when I got my new truck.

I'll stick with Cummins, can't afford to hope and wish for a reliable powerplant from Ford. I have never heard of a new/newer Cummins blowing it's cookies, sure it most of happened, just never heard of it.

That's just how I feel, maybe based on bad info, but there's enough doubt that I would not be comfortable putting all my eggs in THAT one basket!

I've heard a lot of bad news about the newer Cummins as well, a lot of folks say to stick with the older ones.

The only "bad news" about the newer Cummins is less fuel mileage and some EGR issues but never any major problems like the Powerstroke headgaskets and cylinder issues or the Duramax injector issues. I'll take "underpowered" and reliable over hot shot strung out number posting engines that spend more time at the dealer than the farm any day...

The only problems with the newer 6.7's pertain to the emissions equipment, and even those are few and far between. De-emission-ize it, and it's one **** of an engine, probably close to par with the 5.9. Once they wise up and add urea to the consumer 2500/3500 6.7's, you won't have to worry about deleting that stuff and the truck should get great mileage.

Mostly from those who don't own a new one. I had a 95 Ram 2500 with 12 valve Cummins, a little under powered at 160 HP, but only 1 day down in 12 years of service.

Needed a new truck in 06 and started at the Ford dealer, I still think they look great, anyway did a little research and started hearing all the negative propaganda about Ford diesels at the time. Luckily I heard that Dodge offered for the first time in X number of years the class 3, 3500 chassis/cab I was looking for.

In 2007 was all new 6.7 Cummins and a Japanese transmission, I was concerned about being a guinea pig but figured it was my best bet. The chassis cab motor is detuned down to 305 HP and has a different emissions system than the pick ups. Sure I wish the milage was better, but it's the same as my 2500 with half the HP. This truck drives like a dream, so no regrets yet.

IMO the 5.9 Cummins was/is the greatest truck engine in it's class of all time.
Hope the 6.7 can live up to it.

Pics of the old and the new.

Thats good news, I've had several 6.7 owners tell me to look for a 5.9 instead. Extremely expensive mistake of some poor fuel put through it that used to run fine in the 5.9 12v. That is the same for all the new diesels though.

My 04 F-250 has the 10K package and my 06 F-350 SRW has the 11.5K package. There is no comparison. I would change my order if I were you and do not make the mistake I made. You never know when you may get a bigger toy as I did 1 year after getting my F-250 and then realize I did not have enough truck. Its not much money to upgrade to the F-350 SRW, about $600 and I guarantee you if I put you in my drive way and blind folded you then took you in a rid in both you could not tell the difference. They ride the same but the F-350 is much more truck and more secure and actually rides better with a load.

Just think about it. I made that mistake once. Why do you thing the dealers stock so many 3/4 ton diesels? Guys want a diesel and thy figure a 3/4 ton is the way to go when stepping up from a 1/2 ton such as I did. In a few years they out grow it and they then get a new truck sale just as they did in my case.

Chris

Maybe some people don't like or want the same thing you want.

The Ford F-250 and F-350 SRW are the same truck with different spring rates / blocks. There was a big jump in gvwr's in 2005 when they jumped to coils and D60's in the front and bigger brakes all around. Frame's heavier too, the the 250 and 350 are the same.

Put some bags or heavier springs on the 250 and make sure it has tires to match and you'll be fine.
