Nice job, I am anxious to see how it turns out. I like the log loader, is it a Metavic? I have one we use here but mine might be a bit smaller.

Yes it is a Metavic. The one shown in the earlier photo is an off-road model with articulating wheels that I use for forwarding. The custom trailer uses the 1400 loader and where I am hoping to add a gooseneck. Attached picture shows the front end of the trailer. What model do you have?

I have to look at the paper work, it might be a 1150, it works well behind the 4220. It has forwarded a lots of wood. It is how we build trails without big equipment rutting.

It looks like they dropped the rebate cash from $3,000 to $2,500 dollars today but I will still wait until my trailer is converted to the gooseneck setup before going ahead and selling the F650. The F350 diesel does look solid though. I have an older 2002 F250 V-10 with very low miles that I use for snow plowing and short-hauling . It really can pull for a gas engine but just not able to pull these higher capacity trailers.

Just a quick update. After a lot of back & back deciding over the past months I finally ordered a new GN trailer which I will then mount my 1400 Log loader to. Overall, I feel better going this route than trying to add new axles and making the GN modifications to an older 1973 trailer. I will have this trailer for many years to come and I would rather not compromise when dealing with heavy loads. Now the next purchase will be a newer 4 X 4 truck to replace my 2000 F650 for winter hauling.

Finally was able to get my new custom log trailer and 4 X 4 Ram Truck (see attachment). Now will add the log loader and I should be set for awhile. Was able to sell my F650 truck and other equipment to move up to this new setup.

Test drove one of the new 6.7 L Ford Super Duty...it was a 350 . I was impressed.
Did you drive an F350 pickup or cab and chassis F350? The F350 1 ton dually pickup has the 400 hp 6.7L Diesel where the F350 cab and chassis has a DETUNED 300 hp. 6.7L diesel.
I would warn ANYONE contemplating purchasing a C&C Ford 6.7L diesel to not listen to salesman hype or service advisor b/s and do their due diligence BEFORE purchasing one. Talk with fleets that are running them....

In my case, I went back and forth between a 3500 Dodge & Ford F350 as well as the pickup or cab & chassis options. Eventually I landed on getting a Dodge 4500 cab & chassis which has the 4.88 axle, larger rotors & pads, exhaust brake, hydraulic over electric brakes, solid Aisin transmission, larger GVWR payload with 19.5 tires, flatbed, and still have the same 30,000 GCWR. For me the reduction in HP was not an issue as the most important consideration was braking and pulling capacity. When you are pulling consistently over 20,000 lbs in hilly terrain stopping for me those heavy loads is more important than saving a few miles per gallon. So far as been very impressed with the 4500 RAM and this is coming from someone who had been driving a larger F650 for many years.

Nothing wrong with the Dodge, but the F-450 and 550 chassis cabs also have the 19.5 wheels and larger brakes and rotors. Not sure what you mean by hydraulic/electric brakes unless you're talking about the trailer. The brake controller on the Fords can handle the electric or electric/hydraulic trailer brakes. You do have a nice looking rig, should serve you well.
