Is there any downside to packing my bearings and ezlube spindles with premium red bearing grease on my 16' trailer? I read that you are not supposed to mix red grease with general purpose grease. OK, I can live with that. But before I replace all the bearings I just want to make sure there is not something else I need to know about using red grease.

No problems with red. Just start with it and go. My personal favorite is Pennzoil Marine grease. Its disc brake rated which most if the trailers maintain have.

Another vote for a good quality, marine rated grease.

Esp. if you have drum brakes, make sure you understand how to not over-grease the bearings.

Thank you all for the comments! I do have marine grease for my boat trailer but I already bought this red stuff so I will go ahead and use it up. Good comment on not over greasing.
