I am looking at a 2010 GMC 2500, 6.0 gas with Allison transmision with 3:73 gears. Do any of you guys have this truck and how do you like it? I consistently pull 7000 to 9000 lbs. Thinking about trading my 2006 F250, 6.0 D with 200,000. I bought it used and it's starting to have long start issues.

6.0L does not have the Allison. It has a GM 6 speed 6L90, I think is the number. The Duramax trucks are the only one with the Allison from 2008 and up. That being said I have a 2008 2500 with the Diesel since new and I like it.

After checking the build sheet, it is not the Allison but the 6 speed heavy duty. Build code is MYD. Anyhow, do any of you guys have this truck and how do you like it. What kind of mileage can I expect.

I dont think you would be happy going from the 6.0 diesel to the 6.0 gas engine i have both and the ford has way more power, better brakes, and better turning radius.

check out the 1500 series GM 6.2L with the NHT package.

Im pretty sure it will haul what you want.

That would certainly pull the weights the OP listed...If memory serves my GMC 6.2 will pull somewhere around 9300# and I don't have the max tow.

A friend has a 2010 6.0 and he loves it for grunt power...It's harder on gas than mine though.

I have the 2007.5 Chevy version of the truck you are looking at, 4x4 extended cab long bed with 4.10 rear. I've put 50k on mine and am very happy with it. I tow rather frequently and I am impressed with the drive train. I feel it has ample power for what you intend on using it for. You will know the trailer is back there more than you do with your PSD, but the 6.0 gas has plenty of grunt to get the job done. I came from a 7.3 PSD with 3.73.

I tow my deckover bumper-pull at 7-12k on a fairly regular basis and get 10-11 mpg on average at 55-60 mph. Enclosed trailers run as low as 7-8 when it is windy and -20 to -30 F, and up into that 11 range in the summer. Running empty with my 10 mile commute I average 12.5-13, and longer empty trips I can get 17+ at 55, and 15 at 75.

The 2010 has the older frame that is said to not be as strong. I don't know personally. The 2011 that I have is 6.0/6sp auto single cab LWB 2500 w/ 4.10 gears. It will pull 8k on my goose neck just fine on relatively flat terrain. With 8k load, I avg about 7-10mpg in mixed driving, 14 MPG unloaded. If I had any hills at all, I would not look at the gasser. Diesel torque is the answer for that.

Thanks poorplowboy and dkhntro4, that's the kind of info I was looking for. MY 06, 6.0 F250 runs great, just has long starts. Seems like everything concerning diesel is expensive.

Its not a bad setup after 08 with the new chassis and 6 speed.

I am pulling 9,800# today with my 08 Nissan Titan. So far 8.79 mpg for comparison. Its a 800 mile trip so we will have to se what the average is.
