so you can now build a diesel jeep on their website.

and 4500 was wishful thinking.

to add it to the limited, it requires buying the luxury group, for a total addition of over 7K...

way to screw up a good thing chrysler.

May as well make some money from the dopes with blind loyalty to a light duty diesel. Or need a diesel to compensate for a small "willy".

Does your homeroom teacher know you are out playing on the internet? Do you have a hall pass?

Going to be almost $70,000 in Canada for the full load

Why would that be the case. These type of diesels are very common in Europe, with very good mileage numbers.

What is particular would be wrong with a "car" like diesel? We're not taling 400hp and 900ftlb here. Some of those VW Jetta TDI's are suppossedly getting 55mpg+. And, are sporty to drive.

I suspect buickanddeere had a twist in his panties when he made that comment. There is a reasonable debate regarding economy and efficiency of modern gas vs modern diesel engines in the 150hp-250hp range but no justification for claiming only those with "blind devotion" or small willies would be interested in a diesel. A small diesel certainly makes a lot of sense for someone who does a lot of highway driving.

In Canada, its the CX5 that's supposed to get the diesel first. Haven't heard a peep about it in a while now.

If you use the CX-5 sold in Australia for possible EPA numbers then you could expect about 42 mpg combined. That means some people could get close to 50 mpg out of an awd vehicle. If it's about a $2k to $2.5k option it could pay for itself.

Even if the EPA mileage figures are a bit lower, the diesel engine has more HP and certainly more torque than the current 2.5 liter gas engine so it will be a desirable power plant for a number of reasons. I don't know how much extra Mazda charges in other markets but I would guess $2000-2500 would be about right.
