Still have my 87 GN . It has 266,000 miles on the odometer. Take her out for a drive once a year now.

I hear you with the price of the Benz but my little 2012 Jetta TDI was 23K with the diesel, only a 1000 dollar premium. 42 MPG average would be better if it wasn't so torquey and fun to drive

so we ended up ordering a 2014 grand cherokee to replace our 07 diesel limited...

Ordered an overland, with the pentastar v6. White, blue/brown interior. offroad adventure group.

decided the diesel wasnt worth it.

Actually a correction. It's 466,000 Km or 290,000 miles.
Original bottom end only one turbo replacement and that was an upgrade for more flow.

It looks like Truck Trend only averaged 22.9 mpg over a 1400 mile trip with the Grand Cherokee Diesel. Their best tank was 25.8 mpg in California.

That's nothing to write home about. While its good its no better than Dodges very own gas motors and does not cost a premium upfront or for the fuel.

This is why the 1/2 ton diesel will not work.

i dont put faith in magazine fuel economy numbers. The current grand (07 3.0L 4wd) we have is government rated at 17/22 and magazines were seeing 20-21 average... we routinely see 19/26. with an average around 23. 18mpg towing.

I don't know, I have never gotten near what the epa estimates are for any vehicle I have owned. I am not exactly a slow casual driver but even when I have tried to be, I have never reached epa estimates. Most of my driving is country highway as well.

Are you trusting the dash display? Nothing gets 18 towing, not even a diesel.
