Would a 7K car hauler be adequate to move a Ford 2000 (3 cyl) with loader about 100 miles?
My friend just hauled an MF 50 over 2,000 miles on the trailer in question with no problems, but there was no loader involved.
Now he is thinking about the Ford with loader on the same rig and 100 mile trip.

Well I believe the 2000 weighs in under 4000# add the loader maybe 1500# (full framed 730) and that leaves the tires if calcium chloride loaded 800# = aprox, 6300#

Now if the tires aren't loaded- use the lower possible weight of the 2000 @3615# =4800# at a minimum I think if the payload rating of the trailer is a true 7000# should be OK...

The minimum weight for that Ford is 3,770 (call it 3,800 with fluids), the loader weighs 1200-1500lbs, and then you have the weight of the trailer. 7K trailers weigh at the very least 1,500lbs (open center), with many more like 2,000lbs. At the very least, the trailer will be maxed out....it just depends. Does the tractor have a canopy, loaded tires, etc? What does the trailer actually weigh?

I think its too much for it. A 7K trailer usually has a payload of 5000# to 5500#

the data plate on that trailer would help decide whether or not it can haul that 2000 Ford. I found my original 1968 sales flyer for 2-3000 tractors shipped weight is 3615 (3300 was low) the 3000 is 3790...View attachment 314336 I believe that is with all fluids except diesel and loading of tires If they are loaded ? The #s appear to be to close without the payload rating of the trailer, and whether those tires are loaded....

I'd do it all open road, no problem. I have done way more damage to trailers right on the farm than on the road. Its the cutting and jigging that is hardest on trailers, racks the frames and puts side stress on the hubs and tires. Straight running on hot top is about as easy as it gets. Check the bearings, grease and lube everything and go for it.

I wouldn't think twice about it. I'd hookup and hit the road. We have a car hauler trailer that we haul equipment with implement with no problem.

It's not about damaging the trailer. Just because running down the road won't hurt the trailer doesn't make it necessarily safe.

if the tires are unloaded and it's not a huge loader.. it's probably ok.

I can tell you I've for sure done it. but can also tell you that I got a bigger truck and trailer so that I don't have to do it anymore either. :)

i have an 850 with superior utility laoder on it and loaded 13.6-28 tires and a counterweight that probably weighs more than that 3 cyl and laoder.. and I've moved it on the trailer.. and only did so because i had a 1 ton pulling it... and knowing it was abusing the trailer too.. and it was a short 8m trip.. no way I'd do it on 100m
