What axles for JD 3032e?

I have a new 3032e with loaded tires, 305 fel and a 6' rotary cutter/bush hog. The tractor weighs about 2100 lbs. I would guess the loaded tires add 600 lbs and the 305 fel is around 700 lbs. The TSC brand cutter should be around 700 lbs. That adds up to 4100 lbs or so.

I would be happy money-wise to get a 18' tandem 3500# axle trailer. 7000 capacity - about 2000 lbs trailer weight leaves 5000 lb carrying capacity. That should be plenty without going to 5200# axles. Am I missing anything?

Sounds about right to me.

Just ordered one of these for my JD 3520 (approx. 3100 lbs) and various implements:

Sounds good to me but price out a 10 &12 K trailer also. Maybe justifiable.

I have looked at the 10k trailers. A local dealer has a 18' 5200# with one brake axle for $2650. The better 18' 3500# w/one brake axle are around $2000-2400. Cheaper ones are a little less, but lack a full wrap tongue and have less iron under the floor. I'm sorely tempted by the 5200# tandem for $2650, but saving $500 - 600 is no small thing. Yet, as you point out, a heavier trailer may come in handy in the future. Decisions, decisions....

Would the 5200# tandem model last longer? I do not pull things for a living. It would not see much use (maybe once a month). I keep thinking the 3500# tandem would make more sense for me.

I would think the tandem 3500# axle would suit you fine. I know on tractorhouse there's a few dealers selling packages with 3038/3032e with bucket, bush hog, and box scraper all on a 7k trailer package. I can't imagine they would sell it if it was overloading the trailer for legality reasons.

As for which would last longer I would say they would both wear at about the same rate on bearings and tire wear. The 5200 would probably have a higher resale value in the long run though.
