Darn, I couldn't get a picture, but this was classic. I was stopped at a RR crossing this morning and there was a flatbed on the other side with a Kubota on it. This is only a few miles from the Kubota dealer, so it makes sense. As the flatbed passed me I could see the bucket was up in the air 1-2ft, then I saw there was no chain on the bucket, and the chains holding the machine were so loose they were bouncing up and down.

All too common...

40 years ago I worked with a co-worker who told me he actually did that.
But not for long. He said he soon got a huge fine for 'creating a dangerous situation' or something.
Nevertheless it sure is tempting ...

Back in the day, driving from the Valley to downtown LA for work, I used to have a CB Radio with an outside speaker. It used to be fun in traffic. Key the mic an screech like a car skidding. You couldn't really tell where the sound was coming from. But it did provide entertainment for the long drive home.

I read somewhere that phone driving causes as many accidents as driving over the sobriety-test limit. The sense of responsibility and situational awareness needed to avoid an accident are missing when the unexpected occurs.

I still keep some very detailed photos of an accident site from over a decade ago. They show the driver cut in half, laid out in a totally destroyed car. It was one of the first major photo ops for the dangers of Texting while driving.

I no longer look at the pictures. But seeing them in the list of files still makes me shiver.
