Just figured out this method and made a pic for y'all. Not sure if it's better than the loose-knot method. Anyway, try this one and see if it helps to organize straps.

Under DOT rules, those are illegal for lashing cargo that traverses public highways. having said that, I use them too, foe hauling hay bales. DOT regs require 4" wide straps now.

I use straps like that for hay, too. Like other things near me like this (cords, hoses, straps, cables, wire), they attack my feet one leg at a time and eventually trip me up. I'll try your method. Looks useful.

All the roll backs use cargo straps through the rims... none are 4" wide.

I haven't ever seen a 4" ratchet strap except for those permanently mounted on a flat bed semi trailer. Four 2" straps have a combined safe working load limit greater than the axel capacity on my trailer. A single 2" strap has a working load equal to the axel capacity of my lawnmower trailer. A single 2" strap has working load rating much greater than the axel rating on my other single axel lawnmower trailer. It seems pretty stupid that I would need 4" straps.

These are very popular on lumber racks - 1.5" straps.

I have been using the rackit straps for 20+ years... work well and always where I need them.

Can you show the regs for this? Last I looked, the only cargo that required a specific tiedown was crushed cars which required cables or chains (not straps or ropes)?
Everything else is based off of the WLL of the tiedown.

That sounds like a regulation for a specific type of cargo. Cargo is a broad term. I don't think the DOT cares if I use several 1" straps, or a couple 2" straps to tie a couch onto a landscape trailer for example. That's cargo, but 4" straps seem a little overkill in that instance.
