I have an 08 4x4 long b ext.cab with a 6 lt and average towing ( 9 to 10,000#) quite a few 1000 mile it's averaged 12.5 mpg. with plenty of power. This winter I hauled a lift of lumber in the box weight ? to my sons 600 miles and averaged 16.68 mpg.

I have a Chevy 3/4 ton with 6.0 and GMC 3/4 ton with 6.6 diesel. Both 4 wheel drive. Both are good tow platforms with the GMC clearly superior due to the diesel engine. The diesel torque can't be beat, and an exhaust brake saves the brakes on downhill stretches. But your new Denali should be find as long as you don't hot-rod it while towing!!

Did the Denali have a tow package and integrated brake controller, or are you adding that? My GMC was the first vehicle I've ever bought that had the brake controller built in.

Yes it does have the brake controller built in! I had a 2006 Duramax 2500 and this truck feels stiff compared to the older one! Power is not there like a diesel obviously but for what I need it for it will work fine and no more stressing about injectors and turbos and expensive parts to fail

I have a company truck that is a Ford F-250 with the 6.2 gas motor and 3.73 gears, it's what drove me not to buy one for my personal truck, it is one of the roughest riding most uncomfortable trucks that I have ever driven, so I bought a Chevrolet 2500 HD with the 6.0 motor and 4.10 gears, to me it rides much better and pulls my 30' gooseneck and stock trailer better than what the Ford pulls the trailers we have at work, they both seem to get about the same unloaded local driving but on the interstate the Ford gets better fuel mileage, after reading some of these other post's though my 2500 doesn't get nearly as good a fuel economy as their's but it has pulled anything and everything that I have put behind it with ease.

Well I found a smoking deal on a 2012 Denali 3500 6.0 today and bought it. It seems to go decent empty. Can’t wait to tow with it . I averaged 15.5 mpg on the way home all highway. Only thing that is annoying me is the steering wheel wood piece where your hands go? Any one else find this terrible and un comfy View attachment 535629View attachment 535630

Nice!! I had that wood trim on my Denali, annoying at first but got used to it within a week.

My 2011 ford F250 with the 6.2 got around 12 mpg,s.Nice truck did not like the way the rear end sagged with my trailer hooked up. Sold it late 2013 with 14,000 miles on the OD.Bought a used 2006 F150 which I still have and now my 2016 Ram 2500.

One nice thing I think you will find the hitch is a class V, or at least it was on my 2011 Chevy 2500. Nice looking truck.

I’m hoping I get used to it! My 15 1500 chev has a nice leather steering wheel so this one sucks so far for a Denali feature

That 6.0 will pull 10k no problem. Truck is ~8500-9000 lbs and that trailer and load was right at 10,500. 70 mph no problem and the brake controller is great. With the 3500 vs 2500hd you are set.
