Hey so I was wondering if anyone has any real world towing experience with both these trucks? I can’t decide on the f-250 or gm 2500? From what I have read the ford seems to have more power? Any input would be awesome

What do you plan on towing?

What do you plan on towing?

I have a fifth whee that is about 10000 lb loaded up. And a skid steer that weighs 8000 lb plus trailer. And I use a Sled deck a lot in the winter with snowmobiles on it. I want a diesel but I can’t justify the cost and cost to fix them. As I only drove this truck maybe 10 days a month and tow once a month

I have a 16 f350 srw one of my trailers is 4k empty I hauled 5 tons of wood pellets on it goes ok all hilly back roads

I had a regular cab 6.2 4x4 F350 with 3.73s, it towed my trailer and skid ok. Total was aprox 11,500 lbs. never tried it on steep long hills so I can't comment on that. Also had a 6.2 4x4 crew cab 6 foot bed. I think that towed a bit better because of the wheelbase.
My towing with those 2 trucks was limited and if I were to be pulling 10k on a regular basis, I would get the diesel.

I doubt there’s enough difference to loose sleep over. Buy the truck that you like better.

Another thing to look at is the straight axle ( ford) made for work vs independent front suspension (Chevy/gmc) Made for more comfort

Also, if possible, when road testing to compare the 2 trucks, see if you can drive a 6.2l with the 4.30 gear ratio. They are the better gear choice when the majority task is towing.

Here is my 04 1500 Silverado w/5.3 towing 6500 lbs. including the trailer.
Tows it great with plenty of power, 6.0 would be even better.
Have towed 100 miles at a time round tripping to my property.

Well I found a smoking deal on a 2012 Denali 3500 6.0 today and bought it. It seems to go decent empty. Can’t wait to tow with it . I averaged 15.5 mpg on the way home all highway. Only thing that is annoying me is the steering wheel wood piece where your hands go? Any one else find this terrible and un comfy IMG_2479.JPGIMG_2480.JPG
