T2734 Blowing 50 amp main fuses

Working on a T2734/TYM273 low hrs. Was movin a little dirt and she shut off like a lite switch. Nothing worked. Traced to a main blown fuse under the dash. Installed new fuse. flashers,horn,&accys worked. turned sw. to start, blew again. any ideas? tryin to trace a dead short.

under the dash way at the bottom by your feet, locate the bundle of wires the come from the engine. Take a long good hard look and I bet you find a some shorted wires.

Traced to fuel solenoid big blue wire. unplug the sol. and the fuse doesn't blow. Is there a ohm test for the sol?

I have never had this problem, but the service tech told me that if I ever have any issues with fuses blowing on the firewall to look at the wire harness where it passes around the firewall from engine to steering side. He claims the TYM 273/233 is famous for chaffing the insulation off of the wires and shorting out on the firewall itself. As soon as I heard this I wrapped the wire harness in spiral hydraulic line wrap across the firewall run and have never had a problem. Check it out, might be your answer.

Yessir I finally figured it out! took a weekend, but it was chaffed wires alright! **** silly way to rout a harness! Double wrapped everything, all good. Now I need to find a battery that fits.

Glad you got it fixed. Hope you wrapped it with something that stands the test of time.

I hear you, batteries are a pain for these units.

I haven't yet had to mess around with the battery so I'm curious as to just what is a pain about replaceing it? Is it the size that's the problem? Or the appropriate amperage? I hope I'm many years down the road before I have to experience the hassle, but being pre-warned is often a plus. thanks for your insight! Greg

The battery is not the problem it is the battery terminals. You can use a Interstate MT51 battery in it or one simmilar. You need to change the battery terminal ends to the larger size like we use here. I guess they those small ends in Korea.
