    Yes, this one is asking for trouble. Lose focus for a second, lose a hand or worse. The first one is a little better. I still like to split with a splitting ax, good exercise. Here in Louisiana, I only use the fireplace a few times a winter, so splitting by hand is no big deal.

    My grandfather said there is one on my property left from when it was logged 100+ years ago. I plan on finding it and putting it back in use.
