Have you seen the video of a small plane landing on a cargo vessel.
How about a large plane landing on a ship?

"Perhaps one of the most amazing accomplishments of the plane was described by Lockheed pilot Ted Limmer, who had qualified test pilot LT Flatley to fly the C-130. "The last landing I participated in, we touched down about 150 feet from the end, stopped in 270 feet more and launched from that position, using what was left of the deck. We still had a couple hundred feet left when we lifted off. Admiral Brown was flabbergasted."

Piper Cub with about 90 HP engine IIRC. This one is full STOL equipped. Notice the full length wing flaps (called Fowler Flaps -no relation to me) Cubs can take off in pretty short runways as factory equipped even with no wind due to the large wingspan and light wing loading. Add in a 25 MPH headwind and the practically lift off like a helicopter. They make excellent bush planes.
