Re: Scythe vs Weedeater
I love my Austrian scythe. Way different than the american versions hanging in barns and antique stores.
It's a light, sharp, fast tool that is a joy to use. I've cut hay and straw with mine, cleared brush up to 1/2" and trimmed around fruit trees, fence lines, buildings, etc.
I recommend them to anyone who likes quality tools and can figure out how to maintain them.Kubota mx4700, New Holland TC-29D
Mostly I grow vegetables. I get to make firewood too, but not as much as I'd like. And if I'm really lucky, I get to make some maple syrup.

Re: Scythe vs Weedeater
Mine was made in Austria and has an aluminum handle. It used to be a joy to use when I was 40 (gotta pace yourself) but not any more.
