Air Compressor Sizing for Plasma Cutter

/ Air Compressor Sizing for Plasma Cutter #11
arrabil, Good afternoon. I have a Hypertherm 350 plasma. It uses 60 PSI @ ???cfm regulated on the plasma. I added a 30 gallon tank in the line for extra stored air capacity because my compressor was too small. The dry/clean air supply is obtained using a "motor guard" filter. It is a toilet paper roll in a canister. Filters dirt and water very well. Install ahead of the plasma. The 30 gal tank gives me more than enough "air time". I also had an old transmission oil cooler that I installed between the compressor and the storage tank and a "condensate jar with drain" between the cooler and the tank to help remove the condensate. The system works very well. Hope that info helps. Dave

It does... it reinforces that you either find a way to get more air to the cutter or you buy the right size compressor. They obviously mean what they say in the manual...

I like the filter a lot! I'm getting an industrial one as part of the deal but I like your idea on the cheap!
