Here's a little project I'll share with you. It will take me up until the weekend to complete it but some of you might find it interesting. I won't say what it is right now but as time goes on you'll probably guess it. It is an accessory for the Ironworker and a useful one.

I'm using 1/8th aluminum plate for the project. I used the plasma to cut the bulk of it from the sheet and then used the Ironworker to make the fine cuts. The brake you see in one of the photo's is on of the two breaks I built last year for my forklift project. Stay tuned there's more to come :D

TBN needs a icon for jealousy... all I can fine was the drool one  (which I guess works, too). ...or one for envy... I see the fork lift!!!

You built that brake???

I'm pretty certain that same "Built by Specialty Repairs" logo is hidden on the space shuttle somewhere! NASA just made him put it in an inconspicuous place!

From what I've seen of Paul's work, that would not suprise me one bit.

Speaking of the space shuttle, has anyone heard what they are replacing it with since we're down to the last one or two missions?

Paul, any top secret work in that direction you can tell us about?

Hey Paul:

Glad to see the ironworker arrived to keep that new mill company. :)

I'm pretty certain that same "Built by Specialty Repairs" logo is hidden on the space shuttle somewhere! NASA just made him put it in an inconspicuous place!

Paul's logo could be on the Canadian built robotic arm of the shuttle.

Our illustrious 'Pansy in Crisis' has turned the Orion crew capsule into nothing more than a lifeboat/taxi cab for the space station. We'll be hitching rides with the Rooskies for quite some time it looks like.

 Ah man you gave me a chuckle. Tell you what. Any time you want to use it drop over. That old forklift sure has come in handy. It was a pile of work but worth it. Thanks for posting.

You built that brake???

Cyril I built them to do the custom work for the old forklift. I wanted to fabricate a rear light bar for the lift so I decided to build a small brake and a larger one. There used almost daily. I attached some photo's of them and a small sample of other tools I made and have here at the shop. The other weird looking thing is a pipe notcher I built.

I had to build some aluminum roll bars for a few government trucks and wanted them to look as close to factory as possible and the notcher helped make that happen. I also included a link of a pressure sand blaster I built. It was featured in a magazine called "Welding, Design and Fabrication" in Cleavland.
Another weird looking thing I built and works great is a motorcycle wheel truing stand. When I'm doing my bike restorations I need to re-spoke the wheels and they need to be "Trued" after that so this simple tool gets it done for me.

I've added pictures for all to view. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask them. I'm kind of hoping this thread will stop the debate on whats good and not so good in welding equipment and concentrate on what you can do with welding equipment.

Your to kind sir. You guys should be very proud of your accomplishments in the space program. Really sad to hear the shuttle program is ending :(

Cyril your to kind and give me way to much credit  If you want to see GOOD workmanship you need to look no further than mjncad's below. Matt's work is second to none. I think there's more talent on this site than anywhere else on the net.

Hey Paul:

Glad to see the ironworker arrived to keep that new mill company. :)

Ya it showed up Friday evening at 7:30. I'm more than pleased with it. Edwards did an outstanding job building it. There welding is fantastic and the machine is a fine piece of equipment. I was so pleased with it I emailed Edwards telling them so.
Haven't been able to email much lately. 66 hours last week and this week isn't must better. Got to get the Ironworker paid for

Paul's logo could be on the Canadian built robotic arm of the shuttle.

Geez I didn't think anyone would see that sticker under there!

I agree Matt. Very sad to see that end. I feel it's a step back in technology :(

To keep the bordom going I've attached some more pics of home made tools that I've built. There's much more but this will give you an idea of what you can make with a welder and a little imagination. Below is the article on the "Brutal Blaster" :D Thanks for your replies folks!
