Could someone help me understand these ratings? I am specifically interested in the input current requirements for 100% duty-cycle (200A) Here is the OEM specs. TIA

For the 100% duty cycle @ 200A, input current depends on what voltage you are supplying the welder with and are as follows:

208v = 27a
230v = 25a
460v = 13a
575v = 11a

But you DO realize ALL of them numbers are for 3-phase power right??

If you want 100% @200A on SINGLE PHASE, they are as follows

208v = 49a
230v = 48a
460v = 26a
575v = 21a

I do, not only was I mentaly challenged this morning and just couldn't seem to connect the dots, I also was having issues cutn and pastn. Thanks very clearing this up for me LD1, you are a "super member," excepting that orange tractor in your avator

I'm not an electrician, but will a 3phase machine work on single phase without a phase converter but just use more current? I was always of the impression that a 3 phase machine wouldnt work on single phase current at all.

depends on the machine. some can be set up for either.

PS: if you had an orange tractor, you probabally wouldnt need the welder to have to fix it all the time:laughing:

depends on the machine. some can be set up for either.

Bingo. The welder in question can be set up for either 3ph or single. Most of the new inverter style welders are this way. But they do require more current given the same voltage though. If you notice 230v 3ph only needs 25a but 230v single phase needs 48a
