Oh I don't want it to keep, would just like to test drive one. But then again, I don't have enough welders as it is! :scratchchin:

I have never heard a member here that has one, and I have not seen any reports from Jody or anyone else that has one
Yup, this kind of worries me.

So why would you buy a used stick welder but not MIG?

I can answer for myself: because the "Tombstone" style stick welders are nothing more than a transformer. There is just nothing to break on them. As long as there is continuity and no shorts, it'll work. A MIG machine, on the other hand, has the entire feeding mechanism that can be screwed up. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy one used, but I wouldn't even think twice about buying a used transformer-based stick welder, whereas I would hesitate on a MIG.

I bought a Miller 211 and love it. I gave $1035 for the welder and $140ish for a tank of CO2 from Airgas. The 211 is nice because you can switch from 110v to 220v in seconds. I would highly recommend it!

Great, thank you.
My short list is a Miller 211 or the Hobart 210, I think they are pretty much
the same welder.
I saw the Miller for 975 shipped on the web.
On Wednesday, I am going to call the company that delivers
welding supplies to the place I work, and see what they want
for a 211.

I have had a Hobart 180 for about 5 years now and couldn't be happier. I don't know if they make it anymore, but the 190 is about the same. You could get the 190 with a spool gun (for aluminum) and still have change left over. Here is my latest project with it using 1 1/2 square tubing.
