$4.50/lb for 2 lb at HF doesn't seem so cheap. $3/lb or less for 5lb packs of Lincoln at home Depot. I pay $2/lb for Radnor or Washington Alloy in 10lb packs at the LWS.

I've never paid that much at HF. Only buy them on sale for considerably less.

Also, I sometimes have trouble finding 1/16 or 3/32 rods at pro welding shops. Useful when running on 110.

3/32 I can get local. I do have some 1/16 and 3/32 HF rods I picked up on sale. I guess I'm just saying the 2lb packs can be a little deceiving price wise. Of course the 1lb name brand sleeves everyone sells are really outrageous.

By the way, My welding table went together fine and the plastic handles were in very good shape. I liked the hardware packaged with the nuts and washers threaded onto the bolts. Hate those blister packs of hardware even if they have everything labeled. The top is not very rigid and the outside edge flanges had some bulge to them that I straightened with the big rubber hammer to get the edge guides to fit nice and straight.

Just refreshing the thread w/ a few comments.
Based on this thread I got one to go with my SA 300.

One of mine was the same way, but I used my chain saw file and filed the hole on the other side of the leg a little so the handle bolt would align with the nut.

What surprised me was all the fasteners were high grade except for those 4 little screws that hold the table top on. They were so soft they stripped out with hardly any effort. :fiery:
I'm going to get replacements at the hardware store. It stands to reason that the top holding the projects should have capable fasteners.
:smiley_aafz:
You got 4 screws for the top? I only got 3. Luckily my father had given me an assortment of bolts about 40 years ago which had one that fit.

I've had the table for a few weeks, overall it's been pretty good. But one of the plastic leg pieces split in half and fell off... A rocking 3 leg table was not very useful so a little duck table is holding it on until I come up with something better.
Duck table?

That gives me an idea: these would make a real man's man TV dinner table too!!
My thought exactly!

Has anyone modded theirs for rollers and height adjustment?

Did anyone have a bag of "pieces" left over? I've got a bunch of washers, a several nuts and 2 small bolts. These will be go in with my 40yr old collection for the next time I buy HF :)

Flux core wire has more splatter than welding with solid wire and gas.

Hey now - it's welding spatter....not splatter :D

Caution, Grammar Police at work:

"Spatter vs. splatter

To spatter is to scatter or dash (a liquid) in small drops. The small drops are key. For example, a light rain might spatter the roof.

Splatter, which came later and was probably formed by blending splash and spatter, has a similar meaning, but it doesn稚 necessarily involve small drops. A splatter of liquid might be large and messy. For example, paint from an upturned bucket might splatter on the floor. Think of spatter as a synonym of sprinkle or spit, and splatter as closer to splash."

So if your welder splatters, it ain't set right

$2/lb here for Washington Alloy as well - burns nicer than the 5 and 10lb packages of Hobart.

If you got the email recently from HF regarding savings on Welding Gear, there's a coupon for this table for $59. The coupon code to use online is 59667391. I picked one up two weekends ago for $44.99 using the 25% off coupon. The store had a $79.99 tag on the shelf above where they had the boxes but on the handle of the table they had a $59.99 price tag. So they gave it to me for $59.99 and then allowed me to use the 25% coupon on top of that. I figured that wasn't to bad of a deal.
