I just thought I would share a recent project of mine. I haven't posted pictures of my projects before and I am open to anyone looking at the welds and offering suggestions. I built this to lift 1200# 3X4X8 bales of hay. My previous spear only had 2 tines about 40 inches apart and it was difficult to lift the bales because they would sag. So here is the 6' 5 tine improved model.

Looks pretty darn good to me. Are you gonna sleeve those spears so you can replace them easily? I wish I could weld so I could build one.

Nice build ... May want a gusset on top of the JD hook I've seen them roll up. I think u could have keep the plate flat against the frame ... Either way a job well done !!!

mjw357 yes the tines are sleeved, I took the picture of the attachment from the rear before I put the sleeves on.

blueriver yes I am going to gusset the top hooks, my snow blade has them reinforced so I will copy that. As far as the angle goes, I just copied my existing smaller bale spear and that is how it is. It allows the tines to go past parallel and tip down.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Man go buy you a used stick welder for $150 and have some fun with welding!

Sooner you start, the sooner you get to practicing. :)

You forgot to ask for $100 so you could mail him a certificate ;)

There's a perfect example of inflation. I got mine quite a few years ago for a buck and they even threw in a box of crackerjacks. :)
