I am looking at picking up a new stick welder. Leaning toward the Everlast 300st due to adjustable controls for start and arc force. Any disadvantages to the 300st vs the 200st besides a higher price?

I traded my PowerArc 300 to my brother-n-law for his PowerArc 200ST. I don't think my 300 was an ST:confused:. Both are great welders!:thumbsup: My brother-n-law wanted more AMPS. I have a 425-AMP shop welder, and a 500-AMP diesel drive. So the trade did not hurt me in anyway.

300st is 220v only correct? And I know 200st 110/220v.

I didn't practically need the 300 amps & liked the idea of running the 200st off of my 110v Inverter generator if needed for a quick fix in the field.

Imo, if it's going to stay stationary for the most part (unless you have portable 220v power source) I say go with the 300st.

Btw, I'm extremely new to welding and have the 200st, love it.

Yes, the 300ST is 240V but is dual phase. (1 or 3 phase)
Personally, I don't think that is a disadvantage if you are needing a 300 amp welder. Only so much you can do on 120V. It's great to have 120V, but for me it would not be a concern if I am set up for 240V. If I needed regular 120V use, I'd get the 140ST.

I have no need for 120V use. I probably don't need 300 amps either, but I guess you never know. I like the option for adjustable arc force and hot start. With limited experience stick welding, it seems that those adjustments will help some with nickel rod wet out and have other advantages as well.

jb1390, the hot start means nothing to me. Now the adjustable arc force is very:cool2: !
I have it on my Lincoln V350-Pro, and my Lincoln Vantage 400.
