I'm kinda confused here. I looked at a Cub Cadet SC2400 a couple years back, then forgot all about them, as my local dealer closed up. Now I just looked here and see they are using the Yanmar name only now?
Do Cub dealers still sell them, or did they make changes to the dealer network?
Are they still the same machine as the 2010 or has there been any major changes?

Thanks.

I relieve they are on their own now. If you own a cub and it is still under warranty then yanmar will cover it.

Sounds like Yanmar pulled the pin on Cub Cadet. They are establishing their own dealer network. I didn't find out who replaced them in the compact Deere series as rumored they quit them also.

Here's the press release from Yanmar on the partnership with Cub Cadet (MTD). The tractors are essentially the same tractor except they don't have the Cub Cadet name on them. Some dealers decided to keep selling them and some decided not to.

Yanmar America and MTD/Cub Cadet Modifying Partnership, Yanmar to Assume Full Sales, Service and Support of Compact Tractor Products

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 24, 2011) – Yanmar America, a major supplier of compact utility tractors, compact construction equipment and diesel engines, and MTD, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of outdoor power equipment and holding company of the Cub Cadet brand, today announced that the two companies are modifying their business partnership. Since 2006, Yanmar and MTD have been jointly marketing Yanmar’s compact utility tractors under the Cub Cadet Yanmar brand. Effective Sept. 1, Yanmar will begin distributing its compact utility tractors directly to dealers. The Cub Cadet Yanmar branded tractor models currently in the market will continue to be manufactured by Yanmar but will display only the Yanmar brand. Yanmar also will take over product support within the current distribution channel.
“The compact tractor market in North America is beginning to rebound from the economic downturn, and we believe that now is the perfect time for Yanmar to take on full responsibility for sales, marketing and customer service of our compact tractors,” said Katsumi Deguchi, executive vice president of Yanmar America. “By doing this, Yanmar will be able to focus more directly and efficiently on the specific needs of our compact tractor dealers and their customers. The transition to all of our customers will be seamless. We have appreciated the great marketing, sales and service our MTD partners have provided.” “MTD has enjoyed the success of our partnership with Yanmar, and we wish the Yanmar team well,” said David Outcalt, vice president and general manager of specialty retail with MTD. “We are confident that Cub Cadet Yanmar customers will be well served under this new plan and will continue to receive the same great products and services they have become accustomed to over the last six years.”
All Yanmar tractors will continue to be assembled at its U.S. headquarters in Georgia. The facility will handle all duties related to the marketing, sales, service and support of its compact tractor business. This will allow Yanmar to, among other things, provide sales and service training directly from the manufacturer and to provide direct support for service and parts requirements. Yanmar is one of the few compact tractor companies that designs and manufactures all of its own components and parts.

Thanks for the info. I understand now. Did some reading here and people seem to be pretty happy with the 2400.

I grew up on a thousand acre farm in Iowa so I'm familiar with what the bigger tractors have. With that being said, the Sc2400 has been a great tractor for me. I know what it's limitations are so I try and keep what I do under them. I've had my tractor for a little over three years now and my wife who had no experience with tractors before, has actually started to use it more than me. Just the other day I was working on the dog kennel and I heard the tractor start up and she was using the dethatcher to rake leaves and pine straw. I took a break not long after and she was next door helping the neighbors move some firewood. It's big enough to do what I need for the moment and easy enough to use that I don't have to worry about my wife using it. So I would agree that people seem pretty happy with the 2400.
