Talked to the buddy that is working on my ailing 135. Said everything looked good, pistons, liners, rod bearings all looked good, head and head gasget looked good. He is having the injectors pop tested and probably rebuilt. He is suspecting a possbile injection pump problem right now, either in the timing or output pressure to the injectors, but more like a timing issue. He is digging further over the next couple of evenings. Mike

More good news, he found that the injector rack/gov was stuck, thus not letting it throttle up correctly or shuting down via the throttle lever like it should. He fixed that, and is pulling both injectors as the rear one is letting compression back thru it. He is having both rebuilt in the shop where he works in the daytime. Just need to get some garden tractor stuff sold so I can order all the new gasgets, rings and a new radiator. Shes gonna be running again soon! Mike

That is good news considering all the problems it could have had.

I was thinking about fuel injection pumps...seems like the only problem I've ever had with Yanmar's pumps are after someone attempts to repair them....I mean someone not competent. If you've ever been into one you can see their about as simple a Swiss pocket watch (but with many more parts :))

He found the reason it wouldnt run correctly. Both exhaust valve stems are galled up and getting hung up, thus not shutting completely and causing a compression leak into the exhaust. So its going to get all new valves as well. I have to call Hoye to see if I need to order two rod bearing sets or just one. Thier website doesnt say if the I get both rod bearings for one money or if I need to order 2. Thier site doesnt show new valve guides so I have to check on that as well. I would think they would be open tomorrow morning, so I will be on the phone first thing. Mike

Valve guides, intake and exhaust, are app. $10 each. Rod bearings are for one rod. You will need to order one for each rod..$24.97
