Anyone have experience with a YM1300/YM1300D? My dad is looking at purchasing one with a MMM for around $2200. Any major issues with this tractor? Any problems getting parts? How about performance and/or reliability?

Oh, one more question - what is the difference between YM1330 and YM1300D?

"D" means Four Wheel Drive, I think you typo'd in your message and put 1330, but the difference is that one is 4x4 and one is not, otherwise as far as I know they are the same. Two Cyl Diesel, and supposed to be reliable. That sounds like a good price if the machine is in good condition. Heck a similar size riding "gas" mower would be the same if not more expensive and your dad would be getting a real tractor!

trentay - you are correct, that was a typo about 1330. Thanks for the feedback. I believe the one being considered is a 1300D. My dad has offered him $1875 so we'll see what happens.

TheChamp,
The YM1300/YM1300D (the D means 4x4) is a very solid tractor. 2 cylinder diesel, about 15-16hp. In my opinion, it is about as bullet proof a tractor as was ever made. The YM1300(D) is almost identical to the YM155(D) which was sold in the U.S. by Yanmar. While there are some issues with parts availability when it comes to such things as gears, most parts are still available from Yanmar. Due to the fact that it is an almost clone of a built for US Yanmar, parts availability is normally very good.

$2200 for a YM1300D with MMM is a very good price if the tractor is in decent shape. If it is only 2wd, then its still a decent price. Do you know what MMM is on it? The original equipment MMM on the YM135/YM155/YM155D was a YMM45, 3 blade, 45" width, driven by belt from an electric clutch on the front of the engine. The mower complete alone is probably worth about $700-800 in good condition.

I have never heard of a YM1330.

Greg,
I'm still waiting to hear if it is a 1300 or 1300D. The MMM is a 3 blade mower. The lift mechanism for the MMM is with a cable that goes over some sort of pully on the rear of the tractor, perhaps off the hydraulics for the 3PT. I'm not sure - does this sound correct?

The 3 point lifts the mower. The is a realy good price for one with a mid mount mower, since a new mower lists for $1500

TC, I have a 1977 model ym1300 that I bought 2yrs ago. I have had no problems at all. It pulls a 48" finish mower, 60" tiller, 48" box blade, and a 30" dirt scoop very comfortably. Front end must have weights to counterbalance the implements, but that is no problem. I would highly recommend the 1300. Also, you can go down to the local tire shop and pick up a pair of half worn out 16" all-terrain tires off of some pickup, and you got turf tires. Good luck.

TheChamp,
As len says, the 3pt lifts the mower. Cables attach to the upper lift arms and run around pulleys that are mounted down near the lower lift arm attaching points. The cables then run through another set of pulleys on the deck and up to a bar mounted across the tractor near the steering box.

It sounds like you have the original YM155 MMM setup on this tractor. If it is a YM1300D and runs well - I'd jump on it immediately. If it is only a YM1300, well its still worth the money unless you really need 4wd.
