The Mods have started!

Today i fitted some gauges and a new fuel filter assembly to the 1500,i also swapped the LH and RH rear wheels around to give the wider track. i have almost cured the diesel leaks,only 1 left.it is the bleed screw ontop of the pump inlet,it has been overtightened at some stage and is nearly broken off. i can make one of these myself so all diesel leaks should be cured-well almost. any one got ideas on how to clamp the injector return hoses successfully as those wire clips are useless. i was going to try a cable tie but i dont think it will close around the hose properly.

on the return lines i used a cable tie cause i could not find the wire one at that time, it workes, i put it back after finding the wire. They are factory on boats so why not a return line. Put new hose on it i had a pin hole develop in one of mine that cause a leak and it got worse. Did not do it when new but started after like 15 hours. Go to autozone or car parts place and look at the fuel line and vac. line they had the perfect size. Well i bought a larger and smaller size (cause i did not have the hose with me) and looking found an inbetween size that was a remnant, like 13 inches, and they just gave it to me since they did not know what size it was without measuring, turns out the one they gave was the corret size, so i cant tell you what it was cause id have to measure it. Thats why i say take all the rubber hoses off and replace hey there 30 years old, most likely.

where were the holes for the original lights? under the top left gauge?

If yours is like mine the bleeder screw on th pump is a banjo bolt. you can get it from the dealers who post here. It is hollow

1 under each of the 2 top gauges,and also moved the horn button

yeah it was a banjo bolt,i made one at home to replace it. the bolt i used has a bigger surface area so the gasket doesnt squeeze out the sides and no more leaks.i also changed the copper washers on top and under the inlet barb as they were rock hard.

If you have copper gaskets that are hard you can soften them by heating them to red and quenching immediately in water. It makes them soft and flexible. This is normal practice for Aircraft sparkplug gaskets.
