Hi all,

I mostly lurk around here but today I have a question. I'm looking for a cross reference on the hydraulic filter for a YM186D. I'm changing fluids and would like to find a local source for the filters.

This is what I have found so far.
Hydraulic:
OEM #194464-48310
CAPA #CP-140V-35
NAPA #1525
Wix #51525

Does anyone know if using a non-OEM filter will restrict fluid flow?

Any successes using these non OEM filters?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Chuck

Does Wix recommend that filter for this tractor, in their xref tables? Good nuff. (And NAPA is the same thing with an added 5 prefix).

The main point, emphasized frequently by Aaron (Hoye) is that a motor oil filter has much finer filtration and will strangle a hydraulic circuit. I think something like 20 micron vs 125 or something like that.

I got my last filter from Hoye. That way I know its right.

I have a 186d also. My take......some of those filters are probably just fine but why take the chance. At best....you might be replacing that filter once a year....most people go even longer. Why not be sure like California suggests and put on a filter you know meets all the specs. I also get my parts and filters from Hoye. While you're changing that fluid and filter....be sure to clean your screen as well. Good luck and enjoy your 186d. Nice tractor.....I really like mine.

Thanks for the input. I found that the yanmar part number will cross reference to a Wix number. Wix also gave the specs for the filter and they match the flow, pressure and micron rates of the OEM.

I just don't feel that I should have to purchase a simple item like a filter over the internet. I don't mind getting the bigger things from Hoye or Schaffer but for something like a light bulb or a filter I want to be able to get it locally.

The screen was extremely dirty and the fluid was in bad shape as well. It felt like it ran better after getting the hydraulic fluid and filters changed along with a new fuel filter. I've had the tractor a couple years but have not given it much attention or use.

I even got the MFWD drive shaft, detent spring, ball bearing and drive shaft cover alll back together and working.

If it will quit raining I'll get the loader put back on and give the MFWD a test while cleaning out the barn.

Thanks..again

The OEM 194464-48310 is the CAPA-140V-35 and they are less money than the aftermarket filters.

How have you been a member of the site for 5 years and this is only your 2nd post and all in one thread?

It isn't the cost of the filters and such, its the convience and ease of getting it locally. All of the other yanmar parts that I have gotten has come from ordering through the internet.

Well I like tractors and I have always looked on here and other sites to see problems, issues or resoltutions that people have with tractors.

I had a JD 2240 and if an issue came up I would serch around and see if anyone else was having the same problem and how they fixed it.

I then went to buy a JD x324 lawn mower and again I looked around to see if anyone was having complaints or problems with them.

Then I started looking at gray market Yanmars and started looking at the issues that people were having but ended up finding and getting a YM186D.

Then I was looking at trading my JD 2240 in on a JD 5410 and started looking at postings that people had about them.

So I lurked around a lot reading everyone elses posts.

I lean to the green side but do like the Yanmar. I have started using it more this year for mowing the under brush in my timber. I have been putting a little money in it here and there trying to get it back to where it should be.
