Does anyone have power assist steering or power steering on their Yanmars? If so, could you post pictures of the valve and the cylinder positioning? I want to add it to my 1602D, i've seen the kits available as retrofit, but I was hoping to fab my own to save some $$$.

Thanks,
Rob

My 336D has power steering. If nobody beats me to it, I'll take a few shots and maybe some video for you in the morning.

Not sure how much these will help but here is some pictures of a ym186 with a factory yps-186 steering unit. If Domush makes a video it might be more help.

I have a question on the YM 186 power steering assist being discussed here. Is there a relief valve built into this unit? If yes, what is the setting?

Winston1, on another forum you had posted two cut sheets, one depicting the exploded parts diagram and one with the parts listing, but it was not readable. Would you be so kind as to post them here or email me copies? I would sure appreciate any help.

See the thread below entitled "Yanmar YM186 power steering question" started by mnoonan for pages 4 through 9. I will attach pages 10 through 15 here. Adding page 3 that gives relief valve setting as discussed in mnoonan's thread. Pages 1 and 2 is index and safety page so you pretty well got all the main information. Hope this helps out.

GBACBFan:
There pressure regulator is built in, but is adjustable. On page#11, items 9, 10 ,25 & 26 will adjust your pressure. The factory reccomends 1200psi. If you remove the cap #26 and turn in screw #10, it will increase the pressure, only turn 1/4 turn at a time. Too much pressure is worse than not enough, you will blow out o-rings and seals.

Winston1, Gjamtrac, That's exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate your help providing the catalog cut sheets and the information on this Yanmar power steering assist. There is always a danger if hydraulics are misapplied, and the information you have provided will help ensure I'm using them safely. Thanks to both of you.

Here's one I put on my YM2020. Be careful, my cylinder is not long enough and I lost about 1/3 of my turning radius.

The 1810D I got from Frederick's in Alabama came with an optional $500 after market power steering installation. It works fine. I guess they sell it as a kit too.
