I was wondering if there is a set time to grease my YM1700, don't have a manual of anykind, you know like so many hours? Also I have 4 foot bush hog, and no manual with it either. So far I have been just greaseing when I think, it may need it, kind of a hit and miss sort of thing. I was thinking there might be some sort of time hours of use, two or three times a year, or what ever.

Maybe these numbers will be useful for reference. The JD 430 loader manual says to grease all fittings every 10 hours and the 4310 manual says to hit the tractor grease fittings every 50 hours. The JD MX5 rotary cutter manual says to grease the PTO shaft and splines and check the gear oil every time you use it, and to grease the tailwheel every 50 hours.

"Greasing as needed" is hard to beat.

My 50something year old fords manuals say every 10 hours as well, and my new holland manual also shows 10 hours.

And check fluids in cutter before each use.

( If I do any particularly hard or dirty work.. especially in mud or water.. I usually hit some grease on it even under 10 hours... )
