My newly aquired 2000B has a small plastic bottle with a hose at the bottom that goes to the engine between the plugs. Guy says that it drips fuel when you use the glow plugs, but mine is empty. Is that right? Do I just keep a little fuel in it?

Sounds to me like you don't have glow plugs. That is what is used with thermostart. It uses diesel fuel to start a little fire in the intake to heat it. And that is what I have, and it works perfect. The thermostart is used by turning the key to the left instead of the right for a few seconds. If you take the top off of the carb, and look in when you turn it to the left you can see a little flame. That is if you have fuel in the little bottle. It has a little thing that reminds me of a cig. lighter element, that lights it.

Thanks, that's it, I'll just keep a little fuel in that bottle!

The only time you should need to use the thermostart is when it is very cold and the tractor is hard to start.
