It is indeed amazing that some people can pull the magic out of an entry from years gone by. I night remember for a couple of days. Unless it goes back to something from 60 years ago, then I will remember some of the really useless info.

I bought my F215 in 2006 and Tractor Ernie was very knowledgeable about the F series tractors and very helpful concerning questions I had about this tractor so I always tend to remember posts from him.

Winston1 came by today and we loaded my tractor on his trailer to go to Gilmer. The 25 miles over there to work on it in his shop is preferred to trying to work on the ground under a shade tree. Hopefully we can get enough photos and commentary posted to give the next guy a little help.

Here is a couple of pictures after removing the loader, lowering the roll bar and parking her in the garage. Might not have to remove the loader but just not sure how far this tear down is going so I figured now might be better than later. I just took the inlet and outlet to the loader control valve off and put a coupling between them to complete the hydraulic circuit. I'll be posting as we go and welcome any input.

Moving along but with a problem. Turns out the problem is the ring gear to carrier bolts have been sheared off plus the ring gear has one broken tooth which renders it useless in my book. Wondering if the tooth might have broke and wedged causing the bolts to shear? The 276 manual Hoye sent doesn't have many similarities with the fx24d. The right axle housing is going to have to come off. As you can see from the picture is is one piece and inside it is the brake drum. I am wondering if this housing can be unbolted and removed or do I have to start removing the outer gear housing? Anybody out there have a fx24d parts manual that could possibly post the drawings of that assembly?

The first picture is showing the axle housing. If anybody out there has drawings or knowledge just how that comes off I'd sure appreciate a holler. The two pictures after that shown the broken tooth on the ring gear, the one looking straight down on the ring gear just showing there are no bolts holding it to the carrier.

Big difference in the fx series from the ym series is the pto gearing is not on the rear of the differential housing. There is not even a cover on the rear. All the pto gearing is in the front compartment of the housing. As you can see by the picture there is a middle partition in the housing.

FX24 Rear.jpgFX24 Rear.jpgThis may help winston. Looks to be Bolts to the Gear and A Roll Pin in the #4 Spider Gear Shaft. I believe I see the Pin but the bolts ?. Oh here's the axle I believe it's just a snap ring. It may not even be close but worth giving it to you if it helps....

Thank you Carey. That is more than I had. I'm going to go have another look.

Thanks to Carey's pictures I got up enough courage to take the axle housing bolts out and sure enough both sides just slide right out of the differential carrier splines. This thing has wet disc brakes. In the picture of the axle housing I just slid out the brake disc a little for picture purpose.
