I am a new owner of a Yanmar 2310D with front end loader
Everything has been working just fine
But today after doing some heavy lifting the loader has lost its controls
(I assume the PTO also has lost power)
The oil level in the box has fallen below the low tide mark
I have found a small leak at a union ... which is easy to fix

My question(s)
Do Yanmars need a particular type of oil in this box (it houses the transfer as well)
Will I need to bleed the hydraulics

I'm now also confused about the third lever beside the loader lift and tilt controls
I played with it today but of course that was after the oil ran low
It's inlet is from a Tee before the oil enters the manifold
Can't see what it controls ... it seems to be a shut off ... clicks on/off

Your 2310 should have John Deere 303 or equivalent fluid. I have used Walmarts Super Tech transmission/hydraulic fluid and also Tractor Supplys Traveler brand transmission/hydraulic fluid. Important thing is to get the combination because of gear additives. Some in cold climates use automatic transmission fluid. I have no idea about the climate in Queensland.

These systems are self bleeding.

The pto and hydraulics are separate. The pto is strictly gear operated. It should still be operating.

Would a picture of you 3rd lever be possible? :confused3: Just wondering if you have one of those buckets with a grapple action like this. Wow, Winston. That one is a beauty. Where do you keep finding this stuff?

Knowing Redlander is from Australia I just googled Yanmar Australia and saw that. No idea that is what he has but thought it interesting.

Thank you Winston

I've bought a 20lt pail of Mobil fluid which says is compatible with John Deere transmission/hydraulic fluid
The transfer case took about 10lts to fill ... so it was way down before the loader stopped
Everything is back to normal thank you

When I said `My PTO' I meant to say `My TPL'
So yes the PTO is separate you're absolutely correct and well-spotted!

I still haven't worked out what the third valve does if anything
(My bucket is just lift/tilt, not one of those 4 in 1 with the grabber)
The valve seems to be an isolator between the manifold to the TPL
To complicate matters, a ball valve has been fitted inline just beneath it on the way to the TPL
I can lift the TPL only by closing this ball valve

I need to find out how to upload a picture
However, for now, many thanks. I'm now one of your fans of this forum

This is the tractor with what seems to be an original front end loader
Let's see if I uploaded this correctly

And this is the valve manifold
The mystery valve is on the extreme right hand side in the picture
Beneath it inline is the ball valve that needs closing to activate the TPL `lift'

The valve is fed from a tee that brings in fluid from the case
WP_000425.jpg
The hose from the bottom leg of the tee loops up and enters the manifold at the third valve

Not a Cold climate old Queensland, nice and warm. I use Peak oil's (Caltex) Agritrans in my 1500 and found it excellent. Maybe the plumbing is a bit screwed up? They installed the ball valve to get flow to the 3PH?
