OK, so I bought this 2210BD early spring from Coldwater tractors and have been using it lightly off on this spring but nothing for approx 2 months. Mostly post holes this summer. Went out today and used it a little loading dirt into my raised beds for next spring. All of a sudden the front right hub wanted to turn suddenly/ shaprly. I tried to limp it to the shop so as to work on it and it stopped completely and wont turn?

The left rotates and the right wont turn at all.

So when I bought it, I thought I changed all fluids, including the for the front diff. However in looking at this thing now in the pics, the assembly for the wheel looks like it has a drain plug in the bottom of it (see photo) and the other pics shows a small nut that MAY be a filler????

That said, did I destroy something, any ideas and if so, whant even get it and is it expensive. Right now I cant even get it to the shop. If this is a reservoir, what oil and its probably too late?totally bummed as I spent every cent I had to buy this and cant even afford to fix it at this point if its broken or expensive. any advise is very appreciated.

Im

Thanks for any advise in advance.

Does this look like its separating

the diff was full

is this a drain plug, I am new and admit it, I didnt service this, just the front diff. Did I screw the pooch?

and is this a filler nut?

Oh and it was getting dark so I didn't investigate further. I thought it was best to try and educate myself first before doing further damage.

I believe you are hosed. Always buy a manual for any equipment. Never guess. Your differential is too full in the first place. It should have a level plug and not be full to the top. Irregardless, the outboard bevel box is euchred.

The problem could be in the front differential. You are going to have to take something apart to see.

I have a little on line manual but its in japaneese and just shows illustrations. OK, so you said the OUTBOARD BEVEL BOX is euchred- I am guessing that means toast- done-junk? IS that just the lower assembly and can that be repaired or does it have to be replaced? The post below says it could be in the diff? I am not sure what the box is?

In any case I cant work on it where it sits, any ideas? I dont know where to start/

Thanks Dave

Disengage 4x4.

Curl back the loader bucket, lower the bucket to raise the front axle off the ground, and toboggan that thing back to the barn. Steer with left/right brakes.

After you reach a paved surface continue with a helper steering a floor jack supporting the bucket.

Freezing up like this sounds like a gear fragment wedged somewhere. I don't think there is any alternative to tearing the hub down to see what's going on.

From your description I'd guess the problem is in the right hub rather than the differential. But it could be either.

You will know more when you get it back to the barn and get the front axle up on jackstands.

Ok, which manual do I need to order? any ideas/ and this is going to sound dumb, which lever is the 4x4 lever? I was told by coldwater to just leave it in 4x4 and have now forgotten which one it is? Its sad to admit, but true. And you saying walk it on the bucket to the shop? is that tabogganing? I am so new to this im kinda lost.

California if its the hub do I just buy a new one or can they be rebuilt?

Thanks Dave

By toboggan he means back up while sliding the front along on the bucket

Thanks Tom, Im a total novice. Just retired, now living off of a pension and wishing I could work overtime to pay for this kind of stuff. I guess Im going to learn how to try and fix this. I sent some questions to Hoye tractor too. Once in the shop I will at least have it out of the weather come winter. Thanks again.

I think Hoye can find all the parts you need but it might take a while to round them up.

Your parts manual should be a sufficient guide for how to dis-assemble the hub. I assume the part numbers in the manual are legible. Don't worry about the names for the parts, just reference page/part number when talking to Hoye.

These Yanmars are simple enough for an owner to maintain.

California, as much as I hate to admit it, which one is the 4x4 disengage? when I bought it, coldwater old me to just eave it in 4x4.

Oops - gotta run to pick up my kid at SF airport.

Yanmar's 4wd shift lever usually sticks out of the left side of the transmission, but I'm not sure on that model.

Is there a parts diagram for that transmission on Hoye's website?

Looks like it had some water in there too...

Your 4 wheel drive shift lever is on the left side. If you look on figure 48 in your parts manual you will see it. Those are drain plugs on the botton of the knuckle housing. See figure 28 reference 11.

Probably are tight, but just check bolts 26 and 27 on figure 28 for tightness. These are the bolts that hold the two knuckle housing together.

Here is a picture sort of showing the tobboggan manuver. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...4-yanmar-2010d-4x-w-fel-yanmar-left-side1-jpg

Sent you a pm.

Winston the numbers you are giving me are not jiving with the on line manual I have to try and match them up. I think I know which one is the 4x4 lever as its really the only one left. is push in or out engaged?
