Upgraded the fuse panel on my Ym2000

I have been looking at the upgrade frome Hoye for years. My fuses were wound solder and have cracked from vibration I guess? And sometimes make contact and others not. I ordered some fuses a few years back to put in place but they were longer???and bunched up in the gap.

Being cheap I saw where someone posted a link to the same panel on ebay. I think it cost me $5-6 shipped from china. I went to the store and got two 1 inch machine screws m8-32 and one inch long and two nylon lock nuts. Then I started sniping wires and putting new blade ends on them. I also put shrink tube over them. I had the connectors from a kit I had purchased before. And bought two packs of fuses from walmart to complete it.

Was lucky to find repair a problem on my Org. fuse panel not long after I bought it. Random and on the Chg. Sys. that drove me nuts for awhile but finally found it. The Prev. owner replaced the Old style Regulator with the New so I could rule that pretty much out. Alt. checked Fine and was lucky to barely get the connection to the Fuse panel to move one day. Cleaned the connection up and it hasn't done it to the day. I knew better then to do it but after a few yrs. with it being trouble free and knowing the old Reg. was still in the dash I hooked it up and it works fine.
No Pics. I see but there working on my Serv. provider and I was lucky to post this!

My old panel the screw were so tight or seized that the soft brass screw were just deforming. I could not even clean and redo connections if i wanted too!!!

I didnt get the pics posted cause the app onmy phone crashes every time i try to post pics. It use to work a few years ago but the last year or so the app just crashes when i try to post a pic.

I have to get creative to figure out how to post it?

ok i emailed my self the picture from my phone so that i could add it from the computer. here is the finished product. Its the exact same panel that Hoye sells. The holes are the same and they lined up with the existing holes in the tractor perfectly.

My connection on the fuse panel was loose. Not by much but When I seen what I was dealing with, I made Darn sure I had the Correct size screw driver. Very Nice Job. I had a fuse problem also but I was able to replace them by using a broken old style glass fuses. Haven't blown one in yrs. now that I have everything Elec. replaced and working correctly. You've seen it and know I like to try and keep every Org. So far just a new seat, starter Solenoid and Brushes. Not bad at all for 35-40yr. old tractor.
Still having Internet problems. In my bill they said there be working on it till the 16th.

ok something i have been wonderin for awhile. Does anyone know what that random wire that has like the Pin style connector is that just hanging under the dash? It can be seen directly infront of the regulator. Its been there since i had the tractor. I need to see if i can see where it goes. Every thing as far as i know is working as it should so i am not sure where it goes? Work light maybe? there is not wire back on the fender though?

Have you looked underneath the dash for a matching female plug? Does your horn work?

horn works and i have quickly looked a few times and did not see anything.

here is the old panel. The connectors that are cut off could not be loosened.

The wires i think is solder and the other fuses are what i got from HOye and they dont seen to fit well.

Looked for you on mine Yesterday evening but I had internet problems again and couldn't reply. This is what I remember. To my Work light Orange. Under my dash I have a wire hanging and it's Red just above the fuse panel. It must have power because the wire is bent back and Taped up. Been like that for Yrs. Looking at the Dry Rotted old tape. I didn't remove the old tape to look at the connection. Not much doubt it should have power. Let me Know what I need to look for or check and I'll be glad to. It's still right out back. Everything works except my blinkers and I can live without the Blinkers. The reason they don't work is the connection to the Bulbs and light fixture's on the fenders is broken.

I was able to get a better look this morning clemsonfor and this is what I found Zip Tied to my Steering Column. If the sun was just right I'd never seen it. A pinned Grn. wire coming out of the steering column. ? Not on any of my Diagrams. What its for ? Alright Winston you the Man!!!

I dont know what wire that is, but look at the leaves on your trees! We are just starting to bud out...:grumpy:

Appreciate the confidence but I have no idea what those wires are for. I can tell you the 240 schematic shows a green wire from the fuse box to horn and on to horn switch. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...268845255-wiring-ym240-yam240elec-diagram-gif

That's the same Wire. Dia. I have also. You know I had it out and had to go look harder at the tractor today. The Orange is spliced in to my work light. Whoever done it did a good job of hiding it. That's how hard I was looking for a open female adapter. Nothing even close.

The kids are already swimming. Seen the Neighbors in theirs last weekend. When I seen it, I thought it's not warm enough yet for me that's for sure. I wouldn't be able to move for a week!!

Carey and I basically live in the same region. Were about 2 hours apart but were about the same elevation and same weather and trees etc.

IIRC mine has an unused wire floating around under there too!
