This is sort of an oddity. I was going through my old technical bulletins from Yanmar from "back in the day", and came across one on front axle bolts. Frankly I've never heard of it being a problem, but it must have happened at least once. I looked at the old 165D I am trying to fix up, and the bolts have the magic "7" on the head so I guess I'm ok. But it is worth a check for 165D owners.

Not really related but something I'm curious about:

Back in the day, Ford's 9N and later versions had radius rods to absorb the shock of driving one front wheel into an immovable object.

Our Yanmars lack this feature. The axle center pivot on the crossmember isn't beefy enough to avoid getting twisted if abused. Are the tie rod and steering box supposed to be equivalent to radius rods in transferring stress?
