Ford 8N looking to upgrade!
I have driven several Yanmar tractors but only one with the Powershift Transmssion (2010D). I need to drive another tractor with powershift in order to compare, but I cannot find one locally. Does the Powershift Transmssion have a different sound than a transmission without the powershift? If so, please describe the difference. I would like to here from anyone that has experience with the powershift.

Most I have driven have a slight whine to them. Seem to be pretty tough, too.

Exactly as Jim describes.
And an excellent combination when used with FEL work too.

If I am not mistaken, you've driven a 2210D which is a powershift.

I would consider the whine I am hearing a little more than slight. What problem, if any, might that indicate?

Although it's difficult to diagnose a sound by reading your post - If the whine becomes louder when rpm increases you may want to pass on that tractor (weak or potential pump failure?).

The slight whine I was referring to is consistent with the rpm but not louder.

I have had a cpl of them on the lot and sold them. I love them and so do our customers.
Should have kept the 2820D /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I had.
