Yanmar 240D
Hi Guys
Here are some pics of my 240D at last. I am also posting some pics of a rake I built to level and loosen the sand in the Drassage Arena I built for my wife. That is the trade-off see. She gets a dressage arena for her horses and I get a tractor to rake it with (and play with):D. I am very happy with the results. The rake works absolutely brilliantly. I really like my Yannie!!!

Very, very nice. I'm sure you'll get years of enjoyment from your new toy...er, uh...workhorse.

Get a ROPS!!!

Get a ROPS!!![/QUOTE]
Thanks Tom.

If I want a ROPS I will either have to make it myself (TLAR principle (That Looks About Right)- which is probably not a good idea:eek: ) or import from the US which, with our difference in currency and shipping/import costs, will probably end-up costing as much as buying a small tractor here!

Fortunately I am working level ground only.

Good looking tractor. I like that rake you made, too. My "dressage arena" is unfortunately on grass. But, I do eventing so that is what I have to jump on. Now that I have a barn down, I may turn that area into a sand arena. If I do, I may copy your rake!

Hello Spyder.
Nice setup you have, and indeed a fair trade as you mention.:)

I don't recall ever seeing a 240 with an external intake such as appears to be on the left side of the one pictured. What is the engine model (on the left side of the block) and what is the number on the chassis (left side of transmission just about where the operator's left heel would be)?

Hi Spyder
Very nice looking tractor. In the photo it looks like you have different types of tires on front and back which you don't usually see on a four wheel drive. Someone obviously switched the front tires. I was just wondering if these tires were the same circumference as the original front tires, because I have been told that if you change the circumference of the front tires on a four wheel drive that it can damage your drive system because your rear wheels will be trying to go a different speed from your front wheels. Guys, if I am wrong about this please correct me. Since it looks like the original rims on the tractor the tires are probably the same circumference (or very close) but I just wanted to mention this as a precaution.

How the heck do you attach just a reference to pictures, like spyder2 did above? I have some photos of a US Yanmar with that Revision Level 4 intake, but I don't want to clutter this thread with the photos themselves. I see that Spyder2's pix are stored on TBN and imbedded in the thread so how does this magic work? Thanks for any comments!

Spyder that's a great tractor and a gorgeous setting, as well!

California, I wondered the same thing about posting the pics and I asked in another forum. I was told it is just the way some of us came through when they updated the software. I, too, have been taking up room posting huge pics instead of the links. Only thing we can do about it, apparently, is to post our pics on some website like yahoo pics and then provide a link to that. If you ever find another solution though, let me know!

If you want to attach photos instead of displaying them it is easy if they are on your computer. When you hit the POST REPLY button it brings you to the REPLY TO THREAD page. Just go down that page to ADDITIONAL OPTIONS and click on MANAGE ATTACHMENTS. Then a window comes up that says BROWSE. Click on it and find the photo file in your computer that you want to upload and click UPLOAD. Then write your message and click SUBMIT REPLY.

Ok. I followed that precisely. But I don't see an attachment in 'preview post'.
Edit - Aha! Regardless of not showing anything in the preview, it works as intended in the actual post. Thanks Tallyho!

Wayne, (LMTC) here's a Revision Level 4 that was for sale a couple of years ago. Seattle area, I think.

[Edit some more] - At Level 4 they put on the round medallion showing the model number and went to generic hood stripes that just say 'Yanmar Diesel Tractor', along with adding that external air cleaner.

Level 3 was the last to have 'YM240' on the hood stripes. I wish I could find replacements for mine.

Here's that Seattle Level 4 YM240D.

I will get the serial numbers for you this evening. The engine model is a 2TR20-AX.

Thanks for the heads-up Tallyho. I bought the tractor like that. It may be hard to believe but probably due to the low volumes (ie low demand) it is impossible to get 6-14 AG tires in South Africa. I even spoke to Bridgestone South Africa. As a result I am in the process of importing those tires from the US. In the mean time I am not using the 4X4 except on very loose surfaces. I certainly don't want to damage the tranny. I am not sure exactly what the ratio should be between the front and the rear. I saw it on a long post somewhere on this forum and will have to try and find it again.

That is indeed the correct engine for a 240. I suppose I had just never seen one like that before now.
