Landscape rake attached to the 3point hitch of my F235D will not stay in contact with the ground. The control on the UFO lowers the unit, but when I release the control the rake raises of the ground. Has anyone had this problem? Can the UFO be disconnected and the control switched over to the lever?

Some of the F235s have a "UFO Alpha" which appears to be a completely computer controlled three point hitch (no mechanical linkage between the lever you move and the valve):( . If you have this option you could be in a world of trouble. It can not be easily converted to manual control and very little is known about how to use it or how to fix it when it breaks. We had one that we worked on for weeks. I think it ended up being a bad sensor somewhere.

The standard UFO control version only controls 1 hydraulic side link and can be unhooked completely and easily replaced with a standard adjustable side link for under $30.

It may be common knowledge to many, but for the benefit of ignorant folks such as myself, what does the acronym UFO stand for in the UFO control being discussed?

I have plenty of UFO parts hovering around  (4 sets)

I use the ufo feature all the time when Im rototilling or box blading the trails.

They can be a little tricky to trouble shoot when they act up. Its usually a bad ground problem.

Thanks for jumping in Ernie. Was sure most of the problem vietvet was having was due to the UFO control and lack on knowledge on its use. Hope the storm wasn't too hard on you.

Thanks Ernie, is there anyway to tell if the UFO is faulty or is it only the operator (me)? Are there any picture diagrams & instructions for setting up the dials? Are there any English text labels that can be applied?

I ordered a manual from Hoye, but they tell me the book isn't specific to the F235 and only breifly describes the UFO.

Hi Neighbor !
No storm damage here, but we lost power for 3 days

The gen set took care of that though. I had the trees limbed last summer so the wind would sail thru without damage or worry (on my part).

The best way to find how the UFO works is to hook up a tiller and play with it, thats how I learned how to use it. ;)

I saw by his pictures that he has the deluxe ufo unit, I hope he got the correct tiller with it when he bought the machine.

How did you fare thru the storm ?
