I don't have any ideas, but am interested in your results. If you can take pictures all the better.

I'm wondering about the need for power steering on a YM2000, and if the steering mechanism is beefy enough to support it. The added pressure may cause parts to start breaking.

Tim,

Very Nice Job!

I have to admit that I was thinking along the same lines as Norm. Will the add on be strong enough to withstand the rough environment of typical tractor work (?). And also thinking that it's original design was for a more gentle operation...

I've changed my mind. Looks like a well thought out and sanitary installation. The pump and related castings and ram look physically strong enough and your adaptation appears well engineered. Maybe a 'skid pan' or some form of protection from the underside would protect the pump, hoses and drag link connections...other than that, I'd let her fly and see how well it holds up during a day of typical tractor operation.

Oh, maybe one other change? Your picture size loads painfully slow for us dial-uppers :).

I look forward to your progress and thanks for sharing.

Mark

OOOHHH, aaaahhhhh, now how is it activated? and part numbers? and costs? and, just wait I'll think of more.

Great job, and workmanship.

Nice install.

I would put one of those rubber shock-absorber boots over the exposed smooth cylinder ram. (Hose clamps at each end to keep dirt out) The rack was originally meant for water only, no dirt/mud/rocks etc.

Good job.

Havent had time to work on it this week. The cylinder shaft is just under the size of the drag link. The cylinder location splits the drag link. but the ideal of a skid pan and boot cover is also good. I will removing the ols steering asy and insatlling a cover plate with the pump installed on it. i will use a small shaft with a unvesal joint on it from the whhel to the pump.

Tim, wondering how your power steering conversion worked? I am thinking of adding power steering to my YM240D and was hoping to get some ideas.

Thanks, Tom
