I bought my Model M to "keep it in the family" after my father-in-law passed away. He had used it to keep his driveway maintained. Prior to his passing, he had been working on the carb., so it wasn't on the "M" or anywhere to be found.
When my wife and I found out that her mom was selling the tractor, we bought it. I am a career firefighter by trade and know nothing about Model M tractors. The whole carb. issue was like deciphering Greek arithmetic. I had never heard of a Marvel Schebler TSX 245, much less rebuilt one.
It took 6 times building, taking apart and rebuilding, hours of research, a trip to a local JD dealer (who had never heard of a Model M) before I got it right. Now it runs like a Deere!
I use it around the property to pull small stumps, scrap, and ride grand kids. I love working on the M and hope to give it a coat of new paint this fall.
