We grow choose and cut Christmas trees on 17 acres and we also produce compost (from horse manure, wood chips, etc). Our 1533 with FEL performs a variety of chores from ground preparation to snow removal and pesticide application to compost woodrow building and dump truck loading.
It's a good little tractor but we've outgrown it already. I'm regretting not getting something in the 65-80 HP range as this tractor seems to need a little more butt for my needs. It's probably a great tractor for the hobby farm. It does work hard and isn't afraid of much. Very reliable and I've never had an issue with it---it's better than most people I know.
The only thing I dislike intensely are the ergonomics of the controls. It's difficult to keep an eye on the three-point mounted equipment with knocking my knee into the FEL controller (and commanding it to dig into the ground causing an abrupt stop) or dragging a butt cheek into the PTO control and disengaging it. Sometimes I can do both :)
This tractor is simply not engineering for large males (I'm 6'1" and 240 lbs) to operate comfortably. I wish it had a hydraulic remote... Other than that, I've generally liked this tractor and can continue to live with it if my accountant says I can't upgrade... Honey?
