I Love My Oliver Posted by Super55 on 04/01/2013

Where to start. Well for a tractor to last over 50 years of working fields and such I believe that is a testament to the quality of the tractor. The Super 55 is pretty much Oliver's way of taking the Ford 8N and improving on it.

Mine is a 35hp gasser and I had originally had my reservations as to how a gas tractor would do in the field pulling a double bottom plow. After hooking up and a couple rounds it was apparent this thing was built and designed around plowing in mind. Just pulled it beautifully with draft control and just the sound of the old tractor humming along can't help but put a smile on your face.

The tractor is a good small farm tractor that will do what you need of it. Turning radius is fantastic, live PTO, good torque. If someone was looking for a tractor to hobby farm or food plot with it would be a safe bet. I think mine could handle a JD 14T or 24T baler with ease.

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Tractor was completely engineered with farming in mind. Easy to work on. Cons: As other review states front axle weak. It is plenty strong enough for the tractor itself but was never designed to handle the stresses of a front end loader. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: United States Michigan I also considered buying: Allis Chalmers D14, Ford NAA Golden Jubilee
