My wife and I purchased a forclosure back in January 2012. Its driveway had some high and low points that would fill with rain water during our wet season. This is very annoying if you like to keep your vehicles clean(ish). Much more so if you do not own a truck. We have a Honda CR-V and a Scion XB; not exactly off-road material.
Anyway, it hit me one day that if I owned a tractor that I could fix these problems myself. So, the ownership of a tractor-idea was born. Just a few weeks later, I was being driven to Lawtey, Fl. to view (and perhaps purchase) a Yanmar YM180D tractor.
I think I got an excellent deal. Purchased from a nice man for $3100 (with a box blade and finish mower). Vintage is probably 1983 vice the advertised 1993, but who knows? It is in great shape mechanically as well as cosmetically. Everything operates. I received an operator's manual with it and later purchased a part's manual (with some filters and other maintenance items). The 3-cylinder diesel seems very easy to maintain (as well as the rest of the tractor). If you can maintain a car, then you can certainly maintain one of these. I just hope to be able to use this tractor for years to come. Thanks for reading.
